New 22RE swap. NO POWER!

Hey guys! iv searched around and not found what im looking for. I just finished my 22re swap. Everything in the motor is new. The only thing i swaped was the motor. Everything else stayed from my old 22re. I also changed my tranny fluid. Fresh oil in the motor. I got an oil pressure sensor from the junkyard and it gives me a very low reading. Although my oil pump is spraying up in to the valves. It idles perfectly, maybe a little high but i have the idle screw all the way down. Tonight was my second time taking it on the road. With the pedal to the floor it barley accelerates. No power band at all.

Also i have a 5 speed tranny. 4runner. 1988. Aftermarket headers. Some holes in the exhaust before muffler havnt had a chance to patch yet.

Thanks for any input!

Did you do any work to the motor before it was in?

Have you checked your TPS? AFM? Timing? compression?

Red face

Explain no power a little better??

The rpm does not get over say 2000 rpm.

the speed won`t get above say 30mph on a 5 mile stretch.

You put a fresh rebuilt engine in?? As your statement every thing in the motor is new!!

if this is not the case what is the history on this engine??

Clutch slipping???

Fuel filter issues .

Your mechanic was clueless setting the timing??

Vacuum hoses on wrong

distributor off some.

Could be a whole bunch of things

Correct everything in motor is new. The rpms will go to rev limiter. I can get up to a good speed on the flat just takes a while. But there is no power band. If I put it to the floor it still accelerates as if I was slightly on the gas. This weekend I will have time to look into it more.

Thanks for all the input!

Have you checked to see if your gas pedal arm is bent? Buddy of mine had a similar problem his pedal was somehow bent.

Timing is probably to blame. Look up Frieburger's (spelling?) youtube video on setting timing and get a light if you don't have one. Try searching "hot rod tv timing" or something to that effect.

I think junkyardog is onto something though, you could very well have something bent or your cable/linkage is simply not letting you gas it. I would check the SUPER simple stuff before the regular simple stuff.

EDIT: here's the link to the video. Timing is super easy but if you've never done it you have no idea what anyone is talking about!
