Need some help

Hi new to the forum and to owning a toyota, Just did a rebuild on my 86 runner, and im having problems with power issues, i may have done the timing wrong, so that would be my first question, its a 22re, 5 speed. i dont know if i need to bridge anything or plug or unplug any vacuum lines., the manual didnt describe it very well. its set to 5 BTDC, as stated in the manual. second would be vacuum lines, every diagram ive seen shows a slightly different setup than was on my motor before the rebuild, so im at a bit of a loss. attatched are some pics of the lines and such, if you see anything that stands out please let me know, its the only vehicle that i have and i need to get it smoged so i can work lol ok its not letting me upload so i supose just help with the timing for now

yes, on all Toyota EFI engines, there are two terminals that need to be connected in the diagnostic plug in the engine bay to do the timing properly. you can connect the two using a piece of wire, a paperclip, or something similar to that. I don't know which terminals off hand, but it should be listed in your manual

thanks, i think i got that all sorted, the guy before me hack and slashed his way through it in a non emissions state. i have a code i need to fix now "Code 11 Momentary interruption in power supply to ECU (electronic control unit or computer) up to 1991" anyone hae any idea how to fix this one, i cant find any info on it.

For a Code 11 I come up with the following
Short circuit in Check Connector T with A/C switch ON or TPS - IDL point OFF
- Defective A/C switch
- Defective TPS circuit
- Defective TPS
- Defective ECU

It is an issue I am dealing with as well and have tried several things to fix it and still havent gotten it fixed yet.

Code 11 is sometimes nothing to worry about. It can mean there is no signal from the distributor which often happens when checking codes. It can also be set simply by putting the timing in by-pass to set base timing. I'd concentrate on vacuum leaks and other normal things that happen when you r&r the engine. Like broken wires or connectors unplugged. Keep it simple first. Good hunting.

Could the AC system being deleted cause the code 11? It had already been removed when I got it. And if so how can I bypass that. Ill try to get some more pics up tomorrow. I really appreciate all of the help so far.

This is the first time I have seen any mention from a distributor. I have spent hours/days chasing Code 11. Have you got any tips as far as looking for the distributor or any other suggestons? The truck runs great and all, I would like to find the issue.

It is on the end of my 86Runner build. I have swapped TPS, ECU, AC Switch, Injector Harness, and TPS Connector. Along with all of the resistance checks and any trouble shooting that I could find. I followed the FSM and it is not much help either.

When you clear codes does 11 come back?
