In need of new shocks??

What do you guys think, do I need new ones? I thought they all did this....

Shock 01
Shock 02
Shock 03

2 and 3 are of the shock still fastened at the top....

Off road, my Pro Comp ES3000 are nice. They really control the springs, but on road, they are a bit punishing. I have a bad back so I really notice. I'm switching over to OME's.

I agree somewhat; cheap is in the eye of the beholder just like best; it's a subjective term. Quality?.....well it's less subjective but I find the word spit out frequently to see where it splatters.

Gabriel's are OK for the price imo; if you figure up how many miles you get out of a set I think you'll find they were "cheap" but still reliable & built well enough to serve the purpose of dampening the springs. I'm 100% certain a "shock O' phile" would disagree vehemently but I think they have adequate quality control where they are manufactured.

Fine, let me rephrase.

Best Quality, and Cheapest/Inexpensive price do not go together.

Procomps seem heavier duty than the Monroes/Gabriels etc. and mor suited to offroad use. I think you'd probably blow out an on road shock long before a Procomp.

That said, I find the ride a little punishing and I am getting OMEs.

Yeah I'd go with Matt16, DTB & Death Cougar if your going to off road much, go with a little more expensive & beefier shock than a Gabriel. I'll be yanking a set of year old Bilsteins off the front of my '95 this week (I hope) if anyone is interested in a pair that have never been off road.

I just put new skyjackers on my truck. They have a rebate going until I think the end of may, $35 back when you buy 4. The form is on their web page.

i only do muddin..i dont rockcrawl or anything hardcore (yet...lol) me and my friends just just like to sling some mud and get our trucks all kinds of dirty..there are a few trails that im going to try out as soon as i can...but nothing hardcore....i've seen a completely stock '97 F-150 4x4 with street tires on it make it through..so its really easy..but there is an alternate trail..only trucks i've ever seen go down it was a couple of flatbed fords with 40's...lol..i'll check them out too...i have NO suspension travel on the passenger side front of my truck..hence i need new shocks...because...its locked up somehow..(the tube isn't bent..so idk whats wrong..but its locked up so o well)..i'll just get some decent shocks from somewhere..thanks for the info

get Skyjacker Nitros, between $30 and $35 a piece. Better than ranchos.

If someone wants my old ranchos rs5000 they can have them for shipping + a few bucks for packing them. Only reason I replaced them is I wanted longer shocks. They're ugly but fine and taking up space in the garage. Off my 93 pickup.
