Trying to see if I can live with a 1st generation 4Runner - I've got to be able to sleep in the back.

Can someone measure the distance from the tailgate to the back of the front seat when it's adjusted to the rear position? I need the measurement at bed level, on the floor.

I can measure later when I get to work but I can assure you that there is a lot of room for that. I'm 6'4" and I can lay comfortably back there.

Even with the front seats back? I'm 6'3" and my girlfriend is 6'2" and we'd like to configure it so if needed one can drive while the other sleeps.

I measured ~74". I've actually got one sitting in my garage if you're in the market for one. I'm in Arlington, TX.

Why not just sleep on the passenger side while the other person is driving.
