Need Help With Transmission Problem: Throw Out Bearing?

So whenever I push mu clutch in, it makes a terrible squealing noise. From what I've read on here it sounds like it's my throw out bearing. I've posted a video of the sound it makes. Should i be super worried about this? Here in the next few weeks I'll have to make a 700 mile drive back to Colorado from OKlahoma. Should I get it fixed before then? I'd have to have a shop do it, rather than doing it myself if I were to get it done before I left. Thanks guys!

sounds like throwout. I'd fix it as soon as possible. Having said that, its not growling yet. So you've got some time. How much? hard to say.
If you are going to replace the throwout, chances are the clutch and/or pilot bearing is not too far off before failure.
I would replace entire clutch set (clutch disk, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing) replace the rear main seal and have the flywheel turned/resurfaced. And if you feel pretty and have the time, replace the front input seal on the transmission.

I've installed brand new clutch kits and the throwout bearing would squeal from day one. How olds your clutch. Do you know what brand it is.

I for one will not run no other throwout bearing besides the one I can buy from my local napa. Advance Auto clutches are junk. So if your clutch is fairly old just replace the complete clutch kit. Make sure you buy a good one. I'd recommend center force if ya got the money.

As far as yours go I've put thousands of miles on a squealing bearing. So that's your choice.

Natchi produces the OEM bearing for Toyota. Aisin is the only clutch kit that has this bearing. My last throw out bearing lasted 200,000 miles. Me being the smart guy I am, I quickly replaced it with another Natchi...

Thanks for all the help so far guys. According to the PO of my truck the clutch was replaced and the flywheel was resurfaced a few years back. These problems have made me question that though. Here are my options right now: pay a shop to replace the throw out bearing and then decide whether the other clutch components are good or not; or I could drive it as it for three weeks and then take the 700 mile trip home with a certain deal of risk and then do the repair myself. What would you guys recommend? I'm at college right now and have no resources to a garage or jacks to do it myself here within the next few weeks, and from what I've read it's not a very simple task. Also, if i were to get a shop to do it, do you guys have any idea of what that would run me?

I paid 870 for mine was the cheapest I could find. It's lasted 80, 000 miles so far. From what I was told my clutch was a little more pricy compared to others though. I've got a 98 t100 4x4 extra cab with the 3.4 5vz-fe. If you go centerforce expect an extra couple hundred than what you would originally be paying I would imagine. Hope this gives you an idea.

You can get the Aisin clutch kit with naichi TO and Pilot bearings for like $150 from wabfab or other vendors here. I got a SACHS NEW flywheel for $50 at the auto store (cheaper than resurfacing around here....).

Do it right: pull tranny, replace bearings and clutch. Flywheel and rear main you may as well just do while you're in there - insurance for later.

If your bearing keeps going it's not just the clutch in danger....your transmission input shaft could be put off kilter, leading to really bad things that cost more money...like a transmission.

It sucks. But if you're gearing up for that long trip, you should get these things replaced and not be sorry later.

He knows what's up. Might as well knock it out while you're there rather than do all that work again and go through all that trouble twice to replace parts you could have replaced already.

I've pulled my tranny twice in the last year. It's not fun by yourself and it's expensive if you pay someone. You need to replace those things and should replace the others while it's out (especially if you're paying someone to have it out).

You'll thank yourself several times later.

Yup yup. The only thing I didn't do myself. My trans is huge lol definitely wasn't doin it on the driveway. Now that I have lift access working at a dealership I'll be dropping the front axle so I can finally get my oil pan gasket replaced. And while I'm there replace the half shafts cuz all the cv boots finally tore. The outter boots have been blown the last 80k miles butt the inner ones have more of an angle and are prone to actually snap if the cv joint goes bad due to blown cv boots.

Thanks again for all the help guys. So really i should just bite the bullet and get a shop here in OKC to do it for me? I guess there goes my nice tax return ha. What would you guys recommend for clutches? I've heard centerforce, Marlin Crawler, or WabFab. Which would be the best for eventually running 35s with 5.29s?

Get a stage 2 clutch. Centerforce makes a good clutch kit. Just don't go stock. I've got 33 inch bfg murders that are killing my clutch. Your clutch will grenade in a year or two if you don't put o good one in if you run 35's

I ran a center force dual friction in my last 85. Absolutely loved it bulletproof clutch. That is what I am putting in when I need to do one.

Well, right now I'm trying to mentally prepare myself to spend about $1000 to get somebody to to do clutch job for me. Man, I really hate having to fork out the extra cash for labor, but i guess better safe than sorry? Right now I'm leaning toward Marlin's 1600lb Heavy Duty clutch. Does this sound like a good one to you guys? Or is the ceneterforce worth the extra cash?

I've heard good things about the Marlin clutch - search here and you'll likely find a lot of info. The Aisin clutch kit I got from wabfab is fine for my truck...when it runs LOL

Since you want to run 35s you might want to do some more research here on what guys recommend for modded trucks with the extra goodies. I run 32s and likely won't go higher than 33s ever....

Anything bigger than 33's on a little yoter you're gonna need to regear. That's a lot of force to be turned by a tiny motor. If you don't that truck won't be as reliable.

Well, as far as tire size goes, I'm debating between 33x10.5s and 35x10.5s. I have a set of 5.29 gears sitting in my garage back home, waiting to be put in, so I should be fine as far as gearing goes. My little 22RE is gutless as is, I'm not about to try to run bigger tires with 4.10s.
