Mysterious 3ZVE coolant leek
I just replaced the pcv valve along with the grommet, valve cover gaskets, intake and throttle body gaskets on my '94 Runner with the 3.0. I now am leaking coolant like a siv. When I drive somewhere and park it I can sit and watch the coolant drip right out of it. It is dripping out of the back of the engine somewhere but I don't see any hoses I accidently didn't reconnect. Does anybody have any idea why. I read somewhere on here something about the cap on the overflow tank being on backwards, which way is the lip supposed to face, to the rear of the car or the front? Thanks

There's more hoses full of coolant back there than you can shake a stick at...take your pick!
And...with the lip towards the front.

When I replaced said items I simply undid the bolts and only pulled a few hoses from the drivers side and simply flipped the whole mess outta the way with only disconnecting like 3 hoses I think. (saw it on youtube)

So no other ideas? Drove to work this morning and when I got there I had coolant everywhere! I filled back up with water since that was all I had and there was only a small amount leaking when I got home. I need to figure this out pronto but Im about to take it into a shop and let them deal with it.

Throttle body cooling hoses... even if you didn't disconnect them and you said you just "flipped" the whole shi-bang out of the way you may have cause the very old and brittle throttle body hoses to crack and or split.... the throttle body cooling hoses will leak down into the intake manifold and run down the valley of the block and out of the back of the engine.

Fill up the radiator, take it for a drive to get it up to temp, and then pull over see what you see under there. Leaving the engine running may show the source as it will be under pressure.
Also, a cooling system pressure check will show where its leaking.

The coolant hose under the heat control valve,or bypass hose on the passenger side.Pull the plenium and repalce all the hoses at the same time. You'll never do it on the side of the road, whith a blistering hot engine.
