my toyota, finally going
well ive been on this site for awhile and i finally got my toyota going, last week to be exact, and i decided to put it up on hear for all of you to see.
well this is what i started off with, we were told it was just going to be a carb rebuild to get going.
well we started working on it and found out that it wasn't just a carb rebuild. the engine wouldn't turn over at all and wouldn't even be pull started with another pickup. well we decided to pull the oil pan and the timing chain guides were in the pan. while we had that off we looked up there and we found the motherload of all rust. the engine was all rusted up, the head was all pitted, broke piston, it was bad.
it sat for a year while i tried to sell it or find a engine, i didnt want to buy a new one because if a new engine was going in i wanted to rebuild it to learn. well about 9 months later i found a engine.
it was only 75 dollars, i thot it was a pretty good deal. i spent another 400 to get machine work and parts.
about a month and a half too two months later the engine was done and getting ready to be dropped in. thank god.
we got it in and it wouldnt get any gas so we put in a new fuel pump and a bunch of other stuff. everything under the hood is pretty much new now. i bought it with a rebuilt transmission which had paper work and it only had about 200 miles on it. the previous owner had also i think, because i have never heard of this being stock, but he put a one ton rear end under it.
the first weekend that i had it had rained all weekend and the last couple days so me and a buddy decided to go out driving. sorry about the cell phone pic.
here it is after the trip at the gas station. the only thing that got beat up was the home rigged very wimpy hitch that the previous owner made. it got bent when i had to get pulled out.
no im in the process of replacing the break lines when they decided to get all rusty and split on me. work never ends but is always fun lol
thanks for looking and feel free to leave a comment.
