Smile My sister hit a bear with my Yota, then a electical pole then a 12x12 fence post

Yes it is true. My little sister has been using my 86 Yota Truck cause her eclipes decide that its fuel pump wanted to go out. Have to wait till she gets paid and then I will put it in so she can drive it. But she was using my Yota and was going home after give a friend a ride home and was about 1 mile from my moms house and a full grown brown bear comes out in the road. We live in a small town in Colorado and are very close to the mountains. The bears have been very bad. They have been getting in to residencal areas alot this year. With the lack of food cause of people building in the mountains they are coming down adn getting in the trash. But back to the accident. It was dark about 8pm.
She reacted like most and start to aim to the left but the bear decided to go that way. The bears head was above the hood. So with the impact i figure the bear to be a full grown male and weight in about 600 plus. My sister says the head was bigger then a bowling ball. She is ok, some bumps and bruises, nothing serious. When she went right she hit the bear, then went off the road and took out a electircal pole and a 12x12 fence post. She called our mom and mom called me. My reaction was of course is she ok. She was and I wanted to go hunt the bear. Had my shotgun with slugs, just incase it was still there, in my F150. But it wasnt and the county deputys and state trooper were there. Power lines were hanging so power company had to come and repair the lines. Took her to the house and waited till the trooper called. Got the call and went to get it.
It did START!!!! Got to love the old 22re. Passenger side tire was off the bead and the rim was bent to hell and back. The spare i had was falt also. So had to limp it home at about 5mph till i got it to house. Went today to fix tires(drivers side went flat, small bend in the rim) and finally saw the front. Found the front support by the grill and infront of radiator bent. Will upload pics soon. I wanted to cry, Have had this truck since I was 19 and its been there for me throught alot of lifes changes for me. And since it had liability only I got to fix it all out of pocket. So it will take a little while. The front end needs almost 100% replaces. Lights, grill, bumber, hood, fenders. But from what I saw there was no frame damage. Will upload pics to computer then post. And ideas of how to help, where to get parts or words of encouragment LOL will help. Wont let the old Yota die. I will do all I can to make it live again.

First off, I'm glad she's ok.

Just putting this out there because I've heard these stories too many times, and a few ended in serious injury. Even though your natural instinct tells you to swerve to avoid an animal in the road, the best thing you can do is stay in your lane, slow down as much as you can, and just hit it. If another car had been coming the opposite direction (especially if around a corner or over a hill) it could have been much worse. Not to mention there's a significantly smaller chance of going off the road if you take the impact head on.

Just keep with it. You'll get her fixed better than before. Aside from the bear, how many other cars could take out a power pole then drive home? Toyota's rock.

We live in southern Colorado. And the Browns bears have been coming down in to residencal areas alot. My mom found one in her trash can about 3 weeks ago. I saw one running down the road few weeks ago when I was headed home at 10pm. There out thick. DOW here even has had alot of issues with them. But Yes the truck will be getting repaired. Gotta get hood, maybe fenders if I cant fix, grill, drivers corner light, new mirror for passendger side, bumper and the front support. Will make a custom bumper, had the original chrome from 86 on it. Any one know of places selling replacement grills other then junkyards? our local truck yard jacks his prices up.

Now that doesn't look too bad. She must not have been travelling too fast. Hopefully a little body work and she'll be right as rain again. Glad she's ok.
