What do you think?

Since this is a Toyota forum...how do I prevent my truck from sliding out on an incline on snow? Snowed last night...lol. Somehow I was in 3rd gear going 50mph (speedo said that) and moving at a snails pace with snow shooting back...LOL...must be tehm sweeeeet all-teeeerrrains

Winter tires actually do make a big difference in wintery conditions. Trust me, in Canada it snows a pretty decent amount.

Basically your all-terrain tires are nice and soft throughout the summer yes? Once temperatures start to drop, those tires will stiffen right up.

Winter tires stay softer at lower temperatures and offer better traction due to a slight alteration in the rubber compound.

Now, if snow is a rare occasion (not sure of the weather patterns in Oregon), screw it, don't buy winters. Just throw some sand bags in the back, ease up on the throttle and call 'er a day.

**Edit - Oh, and easy through the corners... unless your trying to drift... but still keep it clean.

Thanks guys! I'm going back up tonight with my brother. My tires slide around all corners and can't accelerate fast through 30 miles an hour or my tire will start spinning...I can literally start from a stop light and spin my tire all the way up to 35mph. Its sad

Maybe a hot tub mod would help with traction and engine cooling. Might be just what the calendar needs.

That's about par for the course with him.

If you go the sand bag route, get a couple of 2x4s and make a box around the wheel wells to cradle the sand bags over the axle. That way they don't go rolling around when they freeze. Ask me how I know.

lol...i've seen that done before in a ranger and looks like it works very well. I actually have 2 big plastic bins full of water (probably 40 gallons or so...40x8=320lbs) so hopefully they won't break...I'll give this a try and see whats next. Thanks guys!

Imagine a frozen sand bag. Now imagine getting into an accident. Now image that frozen sand bag flying through your back window if your all terrains put you in the ditch....

Building a box is a VERY good idea, and make sure that the box is tucked snugly under the bed side 'lips'. You really don't want that to come flying towards the back of your head.
