Ok, so here it goes:
My VeeZee blew a head gasket (see THIS thread). I was just going to clean up the block, have the heads rebuilt, and slap a new head gaskets on it, but with the piston damage, I decided to get a rebuild. I went with Oregon Engine's 3VZ-E Super Stock, which arrived yesterday. Basically, I will be using this thread to post pics, ask questions - and when all is said and done - have dyno results posted

Here are a few pics of the super stock unit - my camera phone isn't the best, but it still takes pretty good pics:






It looks pretty good to me. I'm going to check all of the lifter clearances before I start putting it back together - and the block is going to be painted dark red to match the rig!

On a side note - it's going to run me about $500 to ship the core back to OERI - I think I'm going to try to sell my other block to a core place, unless any of you guys want it

It will be interesting to see the numbers. I took off work this weekend so I could have some time to sort through nuts & bolts and attempt to remember where everything goes, do some painting and start building. Hopefully I can look through my pics (and other rebuild threads) and find out where everything goes

The RV cam and O/S valves are supposed to give it more low end torque... Not much special - just a fancy cam on a veezee.
btw Mak - I'm doing a similar exhaust, minus the headers...

Not sure - according to Oregon Engines, it puts out 190hp and 210ft-lbs of torque on an engine dyno. At what RPM - I don't remember. So after factoring the power loss in the drivetrain, I'm thinking around 170hp.

unfortunatly, the headers do change the noise of the exhaust... are you trying to make it sound like mine? itll probably sound a little more throaty if you kept the stock set up.

I don't know if it's going to sound exactly like yours - I'm still sticking with the stock exhaust manifolds for now, but after the manifolds I'm doing a 2.25" downpipe to a high flow cat, borla turbo muffler and 2.5" out the tailpipe.

i thought o/s valves would help more with the high rpm h/p?..thats why i didnt get them when i sent my heads to engnbldr. i wonder what exactly is different about the cams. i have crower cams in mine. i need a new block though cause oil is getting past my rings and i have low compression. lesson learned: when your hg's go out dont just rebuild the top-end, rebuild the whole damn thing lol

the cam specs are in another thread about the exact same motor before this guy bought it.

the cams take care of the low end.
the oversized valves take care of the high end.

i think i was wanting like 420 lift, and 230 duration...or around that area..

i want something that's going to be noticeable....lol

Unless you can do a leakdown test to determine whether or not you absolutly need to rebuild all.

Close camo - 402 lift 222 duration. I wonder what a "bump stick" would be like in these things hehehe - make it sound like top fuel dragster.
