My $100 1.5" lift - Pics

Well after tinkering for a few months, I found a budget setup that works well for me. I don't want to put much money into my 4runner since I don't wheel it much, but I want it to be capable for snow runs and such.

BEFORE -

AFTER -

First -

I removed all the sway bars, completely. The car was a little looser in the turns, but otherwise I don't feel uncomfortable driving it at all.

Then -

The front suspension -

I Cranked the T Bars 1.5" - So far after 4 months I haven't had any problems, and the ride isn't too stiff. Still flexes all the way in both directions, and doesn't top out

I cut 3/8" off the droop bump stops for increased flex with an angle grinder - I turned the wheel at full droop with my hands and felt no resistance in the CV's, boots seem fine.

I then put in new Pro Comp shocks to keep the handling in check

Rear Suspension -

First - I extended the rear brake line

-- on the brake line that goes from the top of the diff to the LSPV..

on the holder strip of metal on the top of the diff, I cut off the front part of the strip that held it on the diff, then bent it up so that the brake line joint T points directly up, therefore extending the length of the brake line essentially. I used an angle grinder and was VERY careful.

Then - I made a 2" coil spacer

I used for each side - 1 piece of 5" sch 80 pipe, 1 piece of 6" sch 80 pipe

the 5" pipe is 1.5" long, sleeved inside of the
6" pipe that is 2" long (2.25" on driver side for driver side sag).

I then used some 3/8" flat bar (3/4" wide, 2" long) (3 pieces per side) and welded them as tabs for the coils on the spacers (on the bottom of the spacer, sticking out to hold the coils in place).

I welded everything together, and stuck them up in the upper coil seats. the sleeved pipe sucked up in and stayed in place perfectly.

Then I got some longer shocks in the rear, Pro Comp 26.5" extended length

(stock shocks)

(new shocks)

yes that is multiple pieces of pipe, but they act as one piece of 2" (tinkering with for a few months)

END RESULT -

CONCLUSION -

Great. Not too stiff (I drive my fiance's 90 runner (stock) all the time, not a big difference)
Flexes great for the money (used the money I saved to get an Aussie locker)

So far no problems with CV's or otherwise. (going on 4 months)

NEXT -

I am going to make some rear bump stop spacers to make sure I dont overcompress the shocks,

fab a LSPV bracket
fab a Panhard drop

I dont have flex shots of the finished lift yet,
but here is a shot of the rear flex with stock shocks and no sway bars

NICE!, I like the pipe in pipe idea, super simple and effective. I made my spacer lift as well, but used a few more pieces (got a good deal from a local shop with a CNC plasma cutter)
Your truck looks awesome, and i like the tires/wheels too..
Is the back lower than the front though? or is that just the pic?
