Ok. i bought a brand new remanufactured motor. i put the motor together and put it in my truck. i got all my timing set to T.D.C and my distributer is right. but the motor will not start. it will just about begin then it will blow out of the carb. its getting gas and air. it was doing the same thing to the old motor and i dont know whats wrong.

does anybody know what sounds wrong or ever had this problem before?

your distributor is not set right,it may be a tooth of or three off my friend had the same problem.

i have tried that i have gone 2 teeth in each direction from TDC and it was still doing the same thing.

It definitely sounds like your timing, I would keep trying, and I would make sure its not set to TDC on the exhaust stroke.

my timing is dead on. could it do with my coil or the igniter assembly?

I dont think that your coil would cause it to blow out of the carb. I had a coil go bad on my girlfriends pickup and it just didnt start (btw, if you ever suspect a coil the ohm test HAS to be in the range specified, not just outside, learned the hard way). Are you absolutely positive that the timing isnt set to #1 TDC on the exhaust stroke? Im sure you've checked it, but I've seen it and done it one too many times to not check and recheck. Good luck.

I have Checked it to many times and it's on intake. But it's sounding like it's running off 1 or 2 cyclenders. When I pulled my plugs they were all getting a pretty good spark. But when it trys to start it just runs like . The it will blow through the carb.

maybe your timing is 180 off?

i checked that millions of times to make sure i wasn't and it is still not the problem. it as there any electrical things that would be wrong with it?

Double check your plug wires for firing order

Sounds like timing or weak spark. Make sure your plug wires are not crossed or mixed up. Weak or dead coil. How about grounds. Check all your body grounds make sure they are all in their proper place and tight. Try advancing the timing more and starting it. Is it getting gas? Is their gas in float bowl?

im going to get a new coil. but when i pulled the plugs to see if they were getting spark they looked like they were firing pretty hot but i'm not sure what a hot spark looks like on yotas. im have rechecked my wires and grounds and they are all in place. and my plug wires are correct

Carb adjusted properly? Maybe it being starved of fuel? Fuel pump working?

its getting enough fuel. but what i don't understand is when it blow back through the carb. i have everything to TDC but its not running right i have tried going a tooth forward and back but still nothing and its not 180 out

My timing is to 12 degrees, and that's where it should be, not at 0...

Did you check cam position, timing chain sprockets, etc. With the vacuum advance plugged set timing at 10 degrees. When the engine runs set the total advance at 30-32 degrees at about 2000-3000 RPM. If it does not run then I would agree with some others that you are 180 degrees off on your distributor setting or cam setting.

popping up through the carb, particularly during cranking to start, is most often caused by combustion occuring (spark plug firing) while the intake valve is open. Cam and distributor timing are the most likely causes but can't rule out valve adjustments.... 22R/RE- .007/intake-.011/exhaust COLD... reset to .008 intake / .012 exhaust warm... unless your valve stems are pitted or your rocker arms / shafts are worn... but that's a whole different situation.

back to the drawing board.

If yoursure the timing is right then i would suspect the carb what is your fuel view glass level at

x2, make sure your cam timing is on! then check clearances then check your ignition timing and firing order.

I have never heard of anything electrical or other that would cause the truck to blow out the coil other than timing issues. You may also have a stuck valve or two in the head, like intake valve stuck open. You need to listne to everyone telling you it is something in the ignition timing or valve train area. CHECK EM AGAIN! That is def where you problem is!
