Motor surging problem
Hey I have a 94 Toyota pickup 4x4 with the 22re that is surging really bad. Recently just replaced the head gasket on it. Got it running and it surges badly also the fuel injection is running hot. I don't know if that is supposed to run hot but when the thermostat opens up it cools down. Any help would be grateful.

When you say surging. Do you mean at idle? Or is it when under load? If ya at idle the you might just have an air lock going on in your upper radiator hose. Air locks are a somewhat common problem. The top point in the hose is higher than the radiator cap. There many fixes for this a quick search will let you know what you think will be best for you. Use google with something like bleeding air out of cooling system on 22re on yotatech. Play with it to get results. As far as the heat issue I have never felt mine before so I can't speak to that. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Not sure what you mean by the fuel injection is running hot, doesnt really make sense to me but to get rid of any air pockets in the cooling system like the others said put the front wheels on ramps or jack it up so the radiator cap is the highest point of the cooling system, which lets air bubbles go to the highest point and escape, so do that and let it run with the cap off but my 22re also sometimes surges very rarely, not enough for me to worry tho but check for any vacuum leaks also
