mercury villager electric fan swap

Hi !!!!
during my research i discovered a new way to swap the clutch fan for an electric one.the donor is a mercury villager from 1993 to 1995,this fan is a 2 speed with big blades so it will work, anthe best part is that the shroud is bigger than the taurus fan so it will cover the bottom of the radiator.there are plenty of them in ebay at a good price even new ones.some minor modifications are required to fit but it will work perfectly.

so here is the picture.make some research and let me know your progress.
if anyone need the relays write up let me know.

You wouldn't happen to have the wiring diagram for the stereo in that mercury villager would you?
I've got a little project involving a lot of speakers from the Nissan Quest (Same vehicle, built in Japan, rebadged).

I discovered a way too, I do not know what the fan came from, I suspect an old ford escort. Its real easy, involves some wire, a switch and zip ties. (out of necessity of course). My electric fan is much smaller than the Villager's fan, and it is not needed on the highway at speeds over 55, and keeps the motor cool even on the steepest mountain roads near my house. Just gotta remember to flip that switch.

make your self a question predator
how a 4banger fan can cool a big v6?
first it has to be 16 inch minimun diameter, did you know how much cfms it makes?
no right!!!!, so stop quesing around, the villager fan pulls at low nearly 1300 to 1500 cfms dependind on the shroud and in high it pulls nearly 2400cfms thats a los of air.this fan was designed for a v6 too the villager is a 3.0 v6 and build heat as our 3vz take in mind not only cool the radiator you need the fan to be plenty of power to disipate that heat from around the engine.the villager fan is similar as the mark a 17 inch fan ,a big shroud and a powerfull motor,,,,, and yes it drwas a lot of amps when kick on but this can be resolved with some good relays. and of course you can get a new one from the site i posted !!!!

If you creep and crawler its nice to have the relay wired to a switch for always on, off for water crossings, and auto thermostat. Really the always on is more for the powersteering as it will take a beating and also for crawling on deep snow. But I doubt that is an issue in PR.

runs more I suppose. You know that fan only comes on when the temp goes on above a certain temp. I dont live out in the desert or big city, it does what I need it to do and only complaint I have is having to flip a switch, and that ought to be fixed but I gotta finish my mercede$ project first.

and I said I think an "escort" but really do not know what this fan came off. I do know it is a bit smaller than the fan that came off it.
In case you still dont get it, that was not a preformance mod, this was cause I do not have $8+0 to spare for new fan and clutch.
I live in very steep mountainous terrain, about 2,000 feet above town. The fan keepts it cool, should I take pics of the temp gage?

few simple rules to follow making the efan swap
1.use good relays
2.good cables
3.use a manual thermo switch
4.be secure of having a 16 to 17 inch dual speed fan most of them come from big engines
5.make a manual on off circuit just in case you are deep diving or hill climb a must with auto tranny
6.mantain clean the engine and the cooling system, this is the most important part a dirty cooling system will not work well.
7.check your battery make sure is in good cond and apropiated for your vehicle
8.most of 4runners and pickups with clutch fan came with 70 to 80 amps alternator,so a heavy sound system and efan will draw to much amps hurting the alt.
9.if you still want to have both the efan and a heavy sound system get a gel battery and a camry 3vz -fe alternator it produces 120 to 130 amps the only problem is that you need to modify "bored out" the 3vz alt damper to fit the camry alt shaft.plugs are the same.
following this rules will minimize headaches and the swap will last probably more tahn your truck sooooo happy mudding!!!!!! pals

some pics of the swap

when cutting the right side i forgot to mark the screw holes and made a straight cut,but when cutting first mark them up and you can use the shroud as a bracket with the oem bolts.
