Marvel mystery oil for unseizing engine?
I picked up an 87 pickup for free last week which I'm parting out. The guy said it ran but had a knock so they put new bottom end bearings in the 22re and put it back in the truck. Never tried to run it and it has sat for who knows how long. I can't budge the crank with a breaker bar and for the past 3 days I've been squirting marvel in the spark plug holes. If it is just rings stuck to some surface rust are there any other hints for turning it over? Worst comes to worse and I'm just pulling and rebuilding or using the block for a core but I figured I'd try and give it a shot at running while it's still in the truck.

speaking from experience with a seized 22r, the crank is seized because the rod bearing has most likely wedged itself against the crank. will most likely have to drop the pan and undo that rod.

Yeah looked like a fresh oil change with clean oil. Well at least it'll be easy to pull the pan when I cut the front end off to sell. I'll give it a week of soaking and rocking on the crank some.

Have you pulled the valve cover off to look at the cam? Maybe it's just the cam seized, but even then it seems you should get some "slack" movement out of the crank. Unless the chain is all rusted up.......I dunno. Just speculating. But, for all you know the guy put the wrong sized bearings in. You should ask him about this......whether or not he even tried turning it over once everything was reassembled. Seems illogical, though, someone would do all that and not set the mechanical timing......which would mean they'd have to turn over by hand. Hmmm.....

Didn't pull the valve cover yet but I was thinking the same thing about there being a little slack for movement. Actually the box with the old bearings is sitting in the truck. Toyota bearings, I can get the part # later today.
I don't know... I took his word for it. It's not like a paid a dime for the truck so I figured he was truthful.

Oh, I wasn't trying to imply he wasn't being honest about everything. Some people just don't quite know what they're doing, ya know? And, sometimes people get the wrong part without realizing, put the part/s in without realizing, and then there's problems and no one knows why.
