K I read up on the manual hub section, or at least how to clean them and install them, the other two links don't work, so this is one of the first mods I wanna do, but I have a few basic questions, on a 93 4x4 3.0, I can just unbolt the hubs and basically bolt manual locking hubs in place on the stock ifs? It's really that easy?

And I'm cheap and would rather pull these from a junk yard and rebuild them, what vehicles can I look for to find 27 spline Aisin manual hubs?

What type of hubs do you have now if any??

It might be easier to have all your questions in one thread not several different ones.

I can`t recall if automatic locking hubs were still an option that year or not.

if your pulling yard hubs just get all the parts the 4 nuts thrust washers and the locks.

you will need most of that to install locking hubs depending on what you have.

I really would not want to see anyone trying to remove cone washers in a yard situation at least in the great salt belt!!!

Ya sorry, I'm just so excited to finally have my truck and I'm gettin ahead of my self and customizing it.
So honestly I don't know what I have in there and I can't find anything about it, if they auto locking then I have no clue how to engage them, all four of my hubs have little caps on them that say Toyota, pop the cap off, on the rear you get what looks to be a manual hub, all rusted through and I can't budge it, on the front I pop the cap off and all that's there is a small silver cone, no idea what it is, but in the thread where he shows how to clean and replace manual hubs he has the same silver cone that he bolts off and bolts his manual hub onto

I still have a ton to learn

'84-'88 trucks/'84-'89 4Runners would have manual hubs or AUTO LOCKING HUBS

'89-'95 trucks have manual or ADD (Automatic Differential Disconnect)/'90-'95 4Runners have ADD ONLY (from the factory)

You have ADD. The rear is not a manual hub. Its the centering ring on the brake drum for the rim. On the front, that "cone" is called the "Hub Flange". Its a splined ring with a cap over it that permanently locks the CV axle to the hub.

Search some, huh? Manual hub swaps have been covered before

unbolt from junk yard. refurbish, unbolt add hubs which basically means there locked in at hub at all times and spins your cv's, bolt up manual hubs. i have done this several times

I just did this today. picked up a used pair from a local guy and cleaned/rebuilt them. There are a ton of videos on youtube if you do "aisin hub rebuild"

the gaskets you need are (toyota part numbers):
43422-60010 - $2.69 at the dealership
43531-60010 - $4.77 at the dealership

I forget which was which, but you need two of each (one for each side).

Once you start taking it apart, it will make a lot of sense.

One of my mine didn't have the ball bearing, i'm told you can just use a 1/32" ball bearing you can pick up at a bike shop. When I took the knob off mine, i put it in a ziplock bag to make sure the ball bearing didn't go flying. It might have been overkill, but I didn't lose it =)

Also the o-ring that goes around the knob i THINK is part number 90215-42025. I haven't gotten one yet to verify though.

Just take your time doing it and understand the steps as you go. I'm new to all this stuff and I could do it (with a few "oopsies").

I just did mine, I think the hub dial oring is 43532-60010 but now I can't find my list with those pns on it.

Thanks for all the help guys, I feel Like I could do this with my eyes closed now with as much as I found, originally what I was struggling with was finding out what I had on there already, but I know what to do now! Thanks guys... Now if I could just finished thosevvalve shims..
