machining flywheel (step/pedal feel)

Well, I finally have my engine pulled from my truck. Before the rebuilt one goes back in I'm installing a new clutch. I saw on http://www.marlincrawler.com/ that his flywheels are machined with a 0.026 step for better pedal feel.
Is anybody else using that measurement? Will the machine shop owner look at me weird when I tell him to machine it like that?
