yotasavg - when you messed with the adjustment nut on top of the steering box...how exactly did you do this? where is it and how hard is it to get to and everything? I've had loose steering for quite awhile. I've personally replaced the tie rod ends, pitman arm, and idler arm and while it helped a lot, i'm still not satisfied.
Have you dont your wheel bearings? We recently replaced mine, and my idler arm. Steering is nice and tight now.

Installing the idler bushing (which is what I also think the problem is) is quite easy to do. You do not need even to disconnect the tie rod. Simply unbolt the idler arm housing from the frame. Then pry the cap off the top of the idler arm housing (the hardest part- just beat it with some wood, then use a chisel to pop it off) Undo the nut underneath the cap and slide the idler arm out of the housing. Replace the bushings and put everything back together. Pack in a lot of moly lube in the housing and use threadlocker on all the nuts.
One word of caution. The bushing for the pre-1992(?) truck is 18mm wide and the post 1992(?) is 19mm wide. I think it was Mudhippy that told me that. That confused the heck out of me when I tried putting in the new bushing as I'd bought the wrong one.
Here's the resource I used, it helped a tonne:

Found the answer to my own problem. The online FSM has instructions on adjusting the adjustment nut on the steering box.
