Looking for a smoother ride

I have a 86 4Runner that had the typical worn out rear leafs, so I installed new OME leafs in the rear and new OME torsion bars up front. I had newer stock length trekmaster shocks all around. my new suspension rode very rough, but I gave it several months to settle. I did need to crank the torsion bars a bit to level the truck some. I also removed one leaf from each stack but that changed the ride very little. I am not sure how to proceed?? I am contemplating ball joint spacers and possibly longer shocks any ideas??? and SAS is not an option.

Softer shocks like monroes, uncrank the torsion bars, and lighter tires.

if you put a bunch of weight in the back for a while won't that help the back settle a bit?

While its not giving you the ride you want, It looks awesome. Perfect stance in my opinion. You may try using OME shocks, i've heard there shocks are softer and are made to work with there springs and make up for the rougher ride of the heavy duty springs, someone correct me if i'm wrong. I will be going with rear OME springs as soon as the budget allows.

the easiest way to get a smoother ride, but will hurt your offroad capabilities is to add weight to the vehicle. your vehicle does not weigh enough to compress the spring. the addition of a spare tire may even be enough.

see if they settle in a bit after driving around. if you got a place to put them through some articulation i would do it.

Not really helping you, but curious which leaf you removed and what it did to the ride height. I ask because I have new OME springs all around on my 85 (currently not driveable) and it's sitting quite a bit higher than I really want.

Like I said, where did you get them from? All the places I have ever seen to order OME leaf packs state you may get 2" of lift or so max.. Thats a good 3 inches imho.

That's an overload. Even factory leaf packs have them. In fact, factory packs even have that number of leafs.

Swerks...

Maybe it's just painted, but the shackle hanger looks new. Did you have new hangers installed?
