Long water pump bolt in 22re broken???
I just pulled a head off a smashed truck that just had a new head and timing chain done and when i pulled it all apart the long bolt that goes through the pump & timing cover into the block broke off in the block. I need to do a timing chain on mine and wondering what to do if it breaks on mine?
Cant even see the bolt in the block.
How common is it for these to break? Does that bolt need to be there?

I've not seen anything like that on a 22R yet, but I have seen it on other makes before.
If you find it stuck, don't go whole hog on it. first try tapping the bolt sharply with a hammer like you are driving a nailjust work on it, if you get it to move a half turn or so and it is still tight, spray some penetrating oile such as PB Blaster, WD40, CRC 5-56, or something similar and leave it soak then tap it more with the hammer and soak it somemore then work it slowly.
Unfortunately, sometimes it is inevitable that it is going to break and you will just have to drill it out.

I just broke the same bolt in the 22re engine that I am using as a core (long water pump bolt). Does anyone know the length of bolt that I should buy as a replacement?
