Yeah even if the records are correct chances are the lock and keys have worn to each other and a brand new key wont fit. Did not know that dealer ships actually have records for the keys though, i know they have it for the chipped keys. interesting.

The dealerships keep records of keys for the vehicles for like 20 years or something.

I got some keys made for my Supra a few months ago. They didn't have it on file anymore, but they took my old key, measured it, corrected for the worn parts, and made me a new one. The key works great. I have 3 sets of keys for my truck, and my supra, which I keep at several different locations so that I don't lock myself out.

Last time I locked myself out of my truck, I got my friend to come by with his stash of Toyota keys. We tried every one, but nothing worked. I tried kicking in the back window with no success, so I finally resorted to jamming a screwdriver into my passenger lock, and unlocked it. Someone had already jammed a screwdriver in the lock before I bought it, so it was destroyed anyways.

I now have a new lock cylinder in that door.

if you have a 90, then chances are that it is too old to get a keycode to cut a key without a key to copy. They will need the code that is on the inside of the passenger door lock cylinder. IIRC it should be a 5 or 6 digit number.

A locksmith should be able to get in to it for 50 or 60 bucks, call around. Then get your key out, go directly to walmart, sears, autozone, toyota, whatever and make a couple extra copies for the $3 each. Put one in your wallet, and incase you lock your keys AND your wallet in the truck, leave the other one at your house, with your girlfriend/wife, parents, whatever. If you manage to lock ALL 3 of the keys inside your truck somehow, then please shoot yourself. You probably don't deserve to drive.

I unlocked mine with a couple coat hangers in about twenty minutes, it's not that hard.

I tried to pop the latch on the rear sliding window of my 93 pickup.
The window blew up and it's gonna cost me $300 min. to fix it.
I've learnt my lesson, buy a hide-a-key.

The most common window is the driver or passenger front windows. They are the same for the 4Runner (2wd and 4wd) and pickup (2wd and 4wd). If you really needed to, I'd break one of the front windows, easiest to find Pick and Pull or a wrecker. I'm not sure about how easy it is to replace, but it's probably do-able.

I locked my keys in the ignition yesterday at school.After trying for two hours with a coat hanger and metal wire I gave up rode all the way to my dads 1 hr away to get the spare key.Turns out it got one of the prongs broken off so it was a waste of time.I called the po pos and it was open within 5 minutes and free.I did however rip the out of my door seal.Does anyone else have a triple door seal?That thing was impossible to get under.

Just to further go off topic- and yeah the search function brought me here because my only set of keys (new car to me) is MIA- don't BREAK the glass if you must make entry that way. Just take a knife and cut the rubber AROUND the windshield. It is just glued in. After a bit of cutting, you should be able to lift it out. The new rubber is cheaper than ANY of the windows!

I worked at a glass shop for some time and pretty sure the windshield is NOT the "cheapest glass", lexan or plexi would be a cheap fix for rear sliders

Two spare keys and a magnetic box would come to a total of around 7 bucks
