So i bought my 1987 4runner with a 3 inch lift with blocks in the rear. I really dont like the thought of the amount of stress they can put on the leaf springs and u joints.

i would like to find a cheap alternative for a while since im going have to buy tires very soon and dont want to drop a lot of money for lift springs now. I already have 33x12.5-15's so i will have to keep a 3 inch lift i believe. My 4runner came with new leafs (stock height), no idea what brand but they have no overload and are just using the stock mounts and shackles. It rides horrible in the rear only and im not sure if its just bottoming out so easily or the springs are just too stiff. It has probably 3 inches between the bump stops.

So my number 1 priority is removing the blocks but retaining the 3 inch lift. Number 2 is getting a better ride if possible.

So go ahead and post known usable junkyard springs for the zuk mod.

Jeep Wrangler (TJ) front springs are 16" inches and fit over the bump stops so no cutting. For a standard stance most people cut them down to 12" so for 3" lift I imagine you could leave them at 16" and cut them if it's too much. I paid $9 locally for them. Still too lazy to install them though.

How about xj springs since there are no tjs at the junkyard I go to. 10 or so xjs though.

wy not just take a measuring tape to the junkyard? you need about 12" or so for 3" of lift... if you find a pair of springs thats bigger, cut them down and install them. they'll all work the same.

well i found that link to the ebay springs for 30 bucks a set so ill probably just go with those

I got mine from an early 90's cherokee laredo for $15.00 at the junkyard, and are originaly 18'' long. On this pic are 14'' long and here 12'' long

I just did the zuk mod today using some 14 inch 175 pound springs and they are 2.5 inside diameter. It rides great but probably would have been better with 125 pound springs. My grandpa just had these laying around though. They are from a super late model.

they lift it. its taller than my front and my torsion bars are cranked with no bj spacers

I dont think you want to go after any front coils. There all goina be stiffer then rears.
Right?? And you especially dont want to ACTUALLY LIFT it with the zuk mod. Atleast not much. Im sure im goinna get some arguers on this one, but when you lift the main leafs off the overload you get more axle wrap. Believe it or not that overload leaf helps a lot with axe wrap. And lifting the vehicle without the leaf packs causes the upper leaves to raise off the overload resulting in less axle control. For correcting sagging springs the zuk mod does not have this problem when its being used to pick the ride height up to where it belongs.

its just a temporary fix for me. once i get my diesel swap done ill put skyjacker 4" springs in. but until then, its better than blocks
