Lifting an auto and tranny change
Looking at putting either a 2" body or a 4" suspension lift into my 92 Hilux Surf. I was wondering if there are any issues with lifting an auto. I know that a body lift on a standard requires an extension on the shifter but I have never heard any info on an auto.
The other question is if there is a standard tranny that will fit that engine (2.4L Diesel) and how difficult is the swap

Yes there are issues with a body lift on a auto truck. 4crawler has the best BL kits and info on what you need:

Don`t do the body lift with the auto, we just did an auto to manual swap on my 86 4Runner and the auto shift linkage was so short that you could hardly get your hand in there to unhook the linkage, so with a body lift you would need to custom make new linkage for everything to work right.

Total install time for me was 6 hours, including cutting one of the body bolt heads off as it was too rusted to turn.

Nevermind, it looks like the 2" ball joint spacers for the front, and 2" longer wide body rear shackles from 4crawleroffroad.com would be easier and better for my application.
