Just replaced both CV axles but that clicking sound is still there!!

Hi everyone!

I just replaced my CV axles and I'm still getting an aweful clicking/grinding sound when I turn hard right, but only hard right.

I have a 1990 4runner, v6 4wd, 3vze engine...

What did I do wrong? I bought both the axles new from Autozone.. =\

Thanks for your help!

how are your tie rod ends? how about the balljoints? they might be grease starved and making noise when you turn and the weight of the vehicle shifts

I haven't actually checked those things... I'd have to take the joints off to properly grease them, wouldn't I?

on my uppers i noticed a little bolt on the top where a grease fitting my be able to be screwed in, i just have't messed with it though.

i haven't noticed anthing like that on the lowers.

but it's basically too late when they make noise. you can try it, but i think you'd be better off replacing the parts.

most lower have a grease fitting facing directly inwards towards the center of the truck; you'd have to crank the wheel to full lock usually to get a grease-gun on it, at least I had to

but not all with have them; my replacements did though

and true about the making noise and it being too late. it's like U-joints... once they start making noise, the damage has been done, and you need to consider replacing them very soon before they do more than make a little noise... at least when a U-joint fails you just coast to a stop normally... if a ball-joint fails... well... it's not going to be pretty

sway bar bushing? my truck made a nice noise turning right when i turned onto a street ect. i inspected the sway bar and saw there was no trace left of the bushings so i decided to take it out. broke a endlink and couple of bolts so i chucked the sway bar. the sound is gone
