Junkyard 4.56 E-locker
Has anyone ever ACTUALLY found one? I'm finding 4.10s left and right. I did a few searches and no one is actually sure what vehicle they would have come on, most likely a I4 4Runner though.

I didnt know you could get an E locker, or TRD package on a 4 cyl...
It'll prolly be in an Auto Tranny TRD truck...
I've got a high pinion E locker I'm looking to trade for one... 4:10 to and I won't have to regear my truck... yet

You may know this, but in case you are having a hard time finding one, you can use a 4.10:1 if you have 4.11:1 gears...

high pinion = reverse rotation = front axle only, really...
I did some work and a guy gave it to me. We thought it was a Hilux, and he has a Cruiser.
Found out it was a Cruiser and I've got NOTHING that I need that's hard core enough to justify using it.
= bummer...

Well the part is available from toyota, 4.56 with diff lock, the part DOES show up for 4runners with this gearing, NOT tacomas though. The I4 was a suggestion on another thread. I'm currently 4.56 and would like to match the front without having to regear

I very much doubt you'll ever find a 4.56 E-locker at a wrecker. Too rare. Cheapest option is probably buying a brand new 4.56 e-locked third from a vendor (if the info in that post Irish Death put up holds water). That should be about $750 plus shipping. The other alternative is an ARB, which are supposed to be a better locker and better-suited for our axles (more spline engagement), the ARB engages easier than the E-locker. Getting an ARB would be quite easy to do as well as they're a common upgrade.

i currently have a 4.56 elocker on my garage floor, still installed in compleate axle. came out of a 97 4runner v6 5 spd. called the vin into toyota, and they told me the ratio. and a compleate elocker harness from 12 volt guy.com
for the right price, id sell it
ive also got 2 4.56 v6 3rds

Well, we found out 85ex did in fact have a 4.10 locker. I'm not shopping in this thread as much as I'm trying to find out what vehicle the 4.56 e-locker came in. It seems there's some debate. An auto with a large tire package option makes sense but I don't think TRDs were available on the 4 bangers.
