Junking '90 4runner What Parts to Keep
I'm selling my '90 4runner project(seized engine). I disassembled the engine and found one rod bearing melted to the crank. The rest of the rods and crank were good.
Anyway, I just don't have time for another project and have this up for sale, but I'm having a hard time finding someone willing to part with $600 for the whole thing so I'm considering parting it out. It has a 3.0 and auto trans., chrome factory rims with decent tires.
What should I keep and sell separately before taking it to the junkyard?

Just letting you know, it takes a lot of time and resources to part a truck, usually you end up keeping some of the stuff until you can't stand to look at it anymore. If you are dead set on parting it, I'd keep anything that seems like you could sell it. Transmission, transfer case, 3rd members, wheels and tires, maybe even the wiring harness. If the interiors in good shape a lot of truck guys like to swap buckets and consoles in, and if it was an Sr5, all the special stuff (armrests gauge cluster (with the oil sending unit would be awesome)) would all probably go pretty quickly. It really depends on the Toyota market around you and how much you're willing to ship.

It really depends on how much patience and storage room you have. You don't want a bunch of good parts sitting outside. Go set the tires and rims by the road with a for sale sign on them. And put an add in cl. I agree with cziemer... just adding my .02

If you have the room keep the whole thing...lol...everytime that I have done this very thing.... Ive stripped anything that I can think I might possibly use and 2 weeks later the part i really need at the moment which costs an arm and leg at the dealer. IVE LEFT IT ON THE STUPID TRUCK THAT IS NOW CRUSHED ......LOL

I parted an 87 runner. I have a storage shed with overhead rafters and built some shelves and litterly all I sent off to the boneyard was a shell with rusted axles and a scratched windshield. If you got the time and space it can be done. I have sold and traded so many parts and used for myself that I was surprised what I almost let go.
If you are going to do a similar project you will need them eventually. I even took tin snips to get the radiator support and just got it ready to put on my current project. Never thought I would need it a year ago.

It all depends I am in the same boat I have two trucks to strip for my own use just no time.
If you have plans to get the same year truck for a project at all I would keep the whole thing.
If not drag or have drug the whole thing to the yard.
Because in the real world no one wants to pay shipping on a heavy bulky item or pay your time to remove from said vehicle.
My input!!
