ITS alive! 3.0 afm mod!

3.o afm mod

Well after reading about a guy putting a 91 afm on a 3.0 I decided to try my luck!
So at this point I have 94 miles on the truck since the mod and will give the full blown details of what I did.

Went to the junk yard and found this beauty! Name: IMAGE_00178.jpg

As you can see I took care to show the engine and vin for everyone wanting to use this mod! Name: IMAGE_00173.jpg

I chose to keep the stock air filter. No real reason. Also im using duck tape to hold things together until I decide weather this will be a permant mod or not (which as of now it will be so I will be also doing the ISR mod

I had to do a bit of fine tuning to this afm . Not sure if it was this afm or the combo of new afm and old readings that dropped my idle however after moving 3 clicks COUNTER clockwise she ran like a top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After filling the tank and driving miles heres where the gas gage is! Now keep in mind im running a 3.0 AUTO with 4.88 gears and 285/75/16s with 38 psi which measure 32.8 if anyone cares

I will be updating this at the end of this tank and probly for the next month which should give a better fuel report.

Important !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Running 285s and 4.88 gears on an auto is well not the world’s fast combo however I can tell everyone this! wow this thing feels like its back on 31s or even 30s low end torque is way up and highway cruise Works I mean it takes hill with the cruise on without slamming down a gear I think its worth it just on the torque up grade even if the gas doesn’t show improvement alteast it didn’t go down!!!!! So ill keep you posted and feel free to ask questions in case I missed something!

Right so, are you saying the intake hole is not 3inchs like on the 3.0? What do you mean you have ducktape all over it? how much bigger is it? any pics of it on your 3.0?

Is it safe to belive you got 94 miles as shown on your tripometer after installing the camery v6 afm and 3 clicks counter clockwise??

Also what needs to be done to access the the clicker on the new afm?? and how does the power differ from the stock afm?

power seems good and like i stated before im running a 4.88 gear with 285 tires which means im MORE under powered then if it was stock

AFTER this mod i can say i feel BETTER then stock response and torque but time will tell the real story

corax i dont think it will work the reason i used the 1990 v6 camary afm is because the plug/pin/ work not to mention that different years worked differently i couldnt use a 93 3.0 from a camry afm because they send a different signal to the ecu

I'll just have to take some notes before my next junkyard run. My '88 7MGE AFM, IIRC, looked exactly the same as the 22RE, and the internals operate the same (variable resistance flapper door, vane airflow meter, internal fuel pump shut off switch, etc.) . . . . can you post up the order of wire colors from left to right looking at the top of the connector? I'll check mine tomorrow when I get back from NM
