IRS and Deckplate?

Ok, I have searched my head off and I can't figure out what this is. There's no write ups on how to do it or anything.

I've gathered that its an air intake mod that is supposedly significantly cheaper than an intake. I guess it's just common knowledge what it is and that's why I've had trouble finding out what it is. Just a link to a write up would be great. Thanks

This is what happens when you go to Tech Write Ups under the forums. You don't even have to do a search...

Also helps when they call it by its real name, which is an ISR mod (Intake Silencer Removal mod) instead of an IRS. Trust me, you dont want to screw around with the IRS lolol

I'm not sure I'd even bother with the deckplate. The intake on my air box is rather huge and located behind the headlight where it gets cold air.

the deckplate mod is literally a deckplate... or you just cut a hole in the bottom of the air intake box (before the filter)

Some people don't like the louder engine noise after doing the deckplate and isr mod. I think it sounds great.....but thats about the only downside. If you don't like the sound, you can always screw in the plug and wallaaaa....back to normal.

yup thats the whole point of the deckplate. Its basically just opening up the restriction in the air box, but allowing you to put it back to stock when you want to

I'm gonna try the deckplate mod sometime in the next couple days. the only thing i was worried about is water getting into the airbox but from what i hear that doesn't seem to be a problem. as for the added noise, thats a plus.

Some one on here had issues with debris in the intake as well as water due to the deck plate mod. It doesn't flow anymore air because the stock hole that ducts cool air is already like 3" in diameter. Drawing air from the engine bay which is likely warmer is not a step in the right direction.

i did the deckplate mod yesterday and it only took me like 30 minutes. everything went smoothly and i can tell a difference in accelleration and throttle response. everyone kept saying there would be more sound but i can't really hear anything unless the hood is up.. overall i'm satisfied tho. thanks for the help guys
