Irratic Start Problem

Irratic Start Problem
I know I know another starting issue. But let me stump you. Here's the gripe. My 87 22re 4runner DLX Std transmission will start awesome in the morning. I will drive to work, park the truck, come out for lunch and the truck wont start. I wait ten mins try again and maybe it will start. Sometimes I wait hrs. Then it starts. The basic problem is the truck will start when cold everytime. sometimes when hot. and sometimes not at all. Whats the fix.
So to bring you up to speed on what I have done:
New starter (not OEM) X2
New Battery
New terminals
New grounds
New alternator
New Ignition relay
All electrical components in the start sequence schematic have been read out. All work as designed. Clutch override switch is good.
Any ideas?

by pass the ignition switch and run a relay to the starter sounds like a bad wire somewhere, next time it wont start go down and wiggle the wires that go to the starter and up by the ignition.

Already did that with a push button switch. Totally bypassed the whole system and still the same thing. I am seriously stuck. I read on here the circuit open relay could be it. But I dont see that component anywhere in the start sequence.

I had a very similar problem on my 93 pickup. Ultimate problem ended up being the battery. I replaced an old battery that was dead with a new Duralast from autozone. The probelm persisted, so I went through other parts until about 2 months later I broke down and had the 'new' battery tested. A cell was shorted so I replaced the battery again. Battery 3 was good for about 6 months until the problem started again. This was the middle of summer in FL. I took in the battery for testing, and (surprisingly) it had a bad cell. Got it replaced under warranty, no more problem until the following summer. The problem returned , the culprit was yet again a dead cell.
The parts store rep said basically the battery was dying from the summer heat. I've since moved to a more moderate climate and battery #5 has been going strong for 2 years.

Tune it up to start, run well when warmed up, then troubleshoot the cold start systems.
I'd suspect your Idle Air Valve, possibly the coolant temp switch, isn't working properly.

I have already tuned it up with all related parts, Just put a new battery in with higher cranking amps for both cold and hot regimes. So we will see how t goes today. I will post later to see if the truck started or not when I try to go home.
