intake manifold conversion
I have a 1990 4 runner with a 3 liter (3VZE). I am looking to convert it over to a carburetor. Does anyone know where or if a manifold is available for this application?

maybe it's like how some people convert TBI GMs into carbs? easier, cheaper, and more simple to work on?
I dunno that it is possible, unless you could find a side-draft that's the same bolt pattern as the throttle body
but even then, back to the question, why?

i dont care about it being illegal or what not (how many people on here can say their rigs are 100%, 51 state (CA included) legal?) i dont give a rats rear end about legality *unless its dangerous and could hurt/kill someone*. i just dont want him to go thru all that time, effort, and, yes, LOTS of money, to get something done that just isnt worth it.
to be perfectly honest, i was considering making my 22re a 22r (carburated) when i first got it, simply cuz i knew how to work on carbs, and i knew how to get performance out of em.(remember my old truck was a 66 chevy with a holley carb). efi i knew nothing about. now, im glad i didnt, but still kind of miss opening the hood and seeing that big air cleaner staring you down.

I'm still trying to figure out why it's illegal?
California has a program specifically for dealing with the situation to make a modified vehicle legal. Also, considering ozzies' was talking about an 88 22re to 22r, that's even easier to do since the 22r was available in 88.

similar to how it's illegal in many states to put an older motor in a car; older than the vehicle itself; it has to be the same year or newer...
plus, carb motors are typically not as fuel efficient as an injected motors, leading to more emmisions, so...

Electrical Gremlins are lurking under the hood, and dash. Just was looking for an option to get rid of those being that I am trying to go the more inexpensive route until a fresh motor upgrade is necessary. And for all those other comments about being illegal, not everyone in this forum is from California. So, back to the original question of,---does anyone know of anyplace that would sell these conversion intakes or even manufacture them?

That's funny, casey. I'm from Cali and I'm not saying it's illegal, just difficult.
As for making one, I don't know of anyone that does- it's not a high demand product. Heck, even basic performance parts for the 3VZE are difficult to source. It's not a popular engine for hopping up. Most people go to the 5VZE or other, more modifiable engines.
If you need help fixing those 'gremlins' start talking about them. We might be able to help.
