Insulation ideas for steering column hole in firewall?
Ok, I've got most, if not all exposed holes in the firewall plugged with appropriate grommets and plugs. The only one left (that I can tell so far) is the one surrounding the steering stem. It looks like the original has worn to a point where I can see a bit of daylight through it. A new one is $35 (not cheap for a simple part), but the biggest drawback is having to pull the column to get it in there. Not worth it, to me.
Any ideas on how I can "plug" that hole while still allowing the steering mechanism to rotate? It would almost have to be something I could wrap around it, as I said, I'm NOT pulling the column over this.
TIA
