Installing shifter carrier retainer

Installing shifter carrier retainer
So I'm having issues installing the shifter seat I ordered from Marlin crawler. I got the shifter out just fine but when I put the old seal and then the new seat back in I can't seem the get the retainer back on. I can push it down but I can't get it to spin through the two pins. Is there any tricks or tools that can help with this?

Can you take a picture of the seat in the "hole"?
Maybe the seat is in upside down or is the wrong seat?
When I got mine (I have the shifter that takes the white seat BTW), I could NOT figure out how to get the seat in.
Then I saw a GIF of of how to spin the seat into place.
Gotta love the inter webs.

Yeah I saw that same thing have the r150f so I have the white seat and I set the little grooves on the pins and then rotated it to slide in. The seat seems to go in fine and when I'm pushing down on the retainer it's definitely going all the way down. But it doesn't seem to want to spin

I would call Marlin Crawler, and confirm that's the right part. When I was buying new clutch components from them for my 91 v6, I asked about the shift seat and they told me that the V6's didn't need a seat (which didn't sound right, but since they were Marlin Crawler, I took their advice). I have since moved on to one of their short throw shifters that does use a shift seat, and the retainer went back on with just a little bit of effort.

I did give them a call and they said the bushing and seat from the factor is replaced by the single seat they sent me. So I was trying to put the bushing on with it which was blocking the retainer from going down far enough
