So the previous owner of my 1993 4runner thought it a good idea to remove the ignition switch. I have a new one on the way but I was trying to remove the ignition housing with the tumbler so I can install the new one. I looked at the 2 bolts that bolt up to the steering wheel and they have round heads. Anyone know how in the heck I can take those out...or do I need to. Am I missing something to remove this housing. I need to replace that white cube at the top that shows the key is inserted. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be pictures around. You need to insert the key turn it to run(?) then press in the spring loaded pin and it will slide out the front key and all.

The whole ignition is riveted to the column only the tumbler comes out

I got the ignition out but I need to remove the housing so i can replace the white box on top with green wires. I can't find any info on how to get to it.

Drill the heads off? Why do you need the car to know the key is inserted then it would just make the dinging.

Thats all that is for? The dinging noise?

I believe so because these cars don't have a chip in the key

The round one on the back is the ignition switch. The other one is the lock solenoid that keeps the key in when it's not in the lock position.
