I don't think so, but don't take my word for it. Front is 8.0'' on SA

solid axles have 8" diffs and ifs is a 7.5" diff, but you can use a rear third member in a front solid axle because they are the same.

the flanges have different bolt patterns from front and rear so you will have to swap that with one that matches your driveshaft. In a pinch i believe the t-case front output flange from your 86 is the same.

woah! welding the front i know its cheap to do and it will work for AWHILE its not something i would want to keep and if you do weld a good tip to remeber is soak it in degreaser and scrub it with some sand paper and prep it really good if not...... well it can get pretty ugly ive saw a guy in a jeep i was muddin with who welded his rear and we were goin through some tuff mud and the next thing i heard was a loud boom and a clink clink thud thud..... guess what the weld broke and tore up the entire gears i ended up pulling a heep out of stuff i should have got stuck in. after joking on him for an hour or so come to find out all he did was drain the fluid and wiped it down and welded let it cool and refilled
