Idler pulley Question

My idler pulley is shot on my 22re, the bearings won't spin. I was wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head if they are interchangeable with either the 22r or 3.0? I have a 22r parts truck and a 3.o parts truck and I'n trying to avoid the stealership.

If you are talking about the one that goes to the air conditioning, Im sure it is the same way. Just take the bearing to the parts store and do the same thing.

Pull the idler off, and take out the bearing and get a new bearing

Well I ordered a new one from the dealer for $30. The one off the 22r is a perfect match, that will hold me over until the new one comes in. BEWARE: When trying to order one pulley they try to sell you a whole set for like $200. Make sure you get just the individual pulley, Part # 8844035030 This was for a 1993 Toyota Pickup, 4wd, 4-cylinder 22re, 5 speed manual, with A/C.

why not go to NAPA/O'Reilly's/Autozone etc? I have used their Pulley's numerous times on Customer vehicles and my own and never had a problem. And they would have been 10-15 vs $30 at Toyota? and you would have had it in your hand within 24 hours if you had called around to see who had it.(I say within 24hrs in case they had to order it from the warehouse.)

To be honest, I didn't even think of that. I didn't know Napa/O'reilly's would have the correct pulley. But, it makes sense since it is just the generic idler pulley. Also, I am hesitant to put anything under the hood that isn't Toyota, but it sounds like you have had some experience with their pulleys and have good results. . . . Either way, good to know, thanks.

No problem. I just hate paying the dealership prices on simple parts that probably rolled off the assembly line next to each other.

It's like buying NGK plugs from Toyota instead of O'reileys just because they come in a Toyota box.
