idle problems

on my 88 4runner When i crank up it idles fine so when I am driving and let off the gas lets say at a stoplight I am idling really high but if I tap the gas the idle drops back down to normal. I though my throttle cable was sticking but was good. I changed all my vacuum caps and made sure all my hoses were good and cant find the problem? any advice would be appreciated.

That sounds like your Dashpot is sticky. I have experienced that several times. Sometimes lubing it will help. It is located just beneath where the Throttle Cable hooks to the Throttle Body. There is a Plunger with a black/brown rubber boot, accordion style cover that gets sticky. You may be better off just replacing it.
