I got my 4.88's but need some help.

So a got a hell of a deal paid 200 for the pair hub to hub!!
But the front 3rd needs rebuilt I havnt taken apart yet but the axle stub on the diff has a lot of play in it. So I am assuming it needs inner and outer diff bearings. Any experience or recomendations would be much appreciated!
Also the Toyo bearings are expensive even at employee discount. Is there a cheaper method, parts kit?

I'd let a profession rebuild the front, you have to have the right tools and know how to get everything into spec.

You can get a full install kit for the diff, should be around 100-120ish. Try calling east coast gear supply.

You might hit up Zuk (here on yotatech) or check his site: http://gearinstalls.com

I am in the process of rebuilding my SFA. I bought this kit ( http://www.marlincrawler.com/axle/fr...wheel-bearings ) from Marlin Crawler. I also used this site to do the rebuild http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...eRebuild.shtml .

Hope this helps.

I used the same website as raginyota to get my parts and rebuild my front axle instructions are very detailed. This is the first time I did anything like this and to tell you the truth it was pretty fun but for the gears you realy should let a pro do that unless you have a buddy that knows what they are doing like I did. My bud only charged my two thirty packs of CL but is youe rig ifs or solid axle?

Sorry I thought I put that info in my post. Its ifs!
After reading ZUk's page I think I might not need a rebuild
apparently some slop on the pass side axle flange is normal.
I am going to test it tonight, also going to check contact pattern.

ya...there isn't alot you can do about that play on the passenger side.....just put a new seal in there and hope for the best.
Now, as far as the ring/pinion....maybe the carrier bearing pre-load is gone....and maybe the pinion bearings are still ok but are running loose also and it needs some PPL added back in with a new pinion seal there also.
How's the pattern look?
