hydrocarbons at 41.26 wth
took the 94 runner for emmisions and my 3slow is pumping out 41.26 on the hydrocarbons which is double the allowed amount for arizona, im no expert on emmisions, but thats bad. any ideas or threads that could help me out on a good start point would be awsome.

You can look to some things as clues of what might be going on, has the MPG's gone down, engine running rough stumbling and misfiring, is the engine running too hot or too cold, any codes at all? Many things can cause high HC's from a bad cat to O2 sensors to a stuck open thermostat. I would start with checking for any codes and go from there.

total quick version 2 years ago i blew hgs and it sat in garage. 3 weeks ago it went to toyota to replace hgs. now 246 miles since i got it back. i havnt noticed gas miledge going down. engine runs smooth but i feel that it runs a little hot, no cel new o2 i have a new cat not sure if i want to put it on yet. timing is advaned a bit. i thought all a cat does is drop the nox does it also drop hydrocarbons

Hydrocarbons are basically unburned fuel molecoles, and the cat does convert hydrocarbons along with carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides into less harmful gases. If it were my truck, I would put on the new cat, return timing to OEM and run some guarentee to pass stuff through my tank and then try again.
