my 75 toyota

Hello all
I have a 87 pickup 2x4 with a 22r and heres what i have now.
MSD 6a box and wires, weber 38/38 carb, stock rebuild with RV cam, and a Pacesetter heder.
So now i want a muffler thats going to sound good. I dont want it loud but i do want it to have a good idle sound. So any ideals i hear a flowmaster 4o with twin tips but want to know before i buy. Thanks

I've always had good luck with a regular old "turbo" style muffler myself. Slowmasters sound decent too so long as you get one of the quieter models.

Up date I cut old muffler off and it had a 1nner diameter of 1 and 1/2. Comes off heder 2 an 1/4 then drops down by rear axle from that point back it is small and looks stock. Now why would you leave that on the back. So im going to have that cut off and 2an 1/4 on back with muffler. And i want it to sound throaty at idle as all i do is cruize around town in it . Thanks

i have a downey header, 2 1/4 to a flowmaster 40... I think it sounds perfect. not sure about twin pipes though? why? lol

In the morn gonna cut the rest off from reducer back. I think down to 1 an
1/2 is to much to small

do a single in and single out muffler 2 1/4, anything more is a waste.
ive had a flowmaster 50 on my truck and it sounded ok. not too loud but droned pretty bad in the cab especially on the highway. then i went to a cheap summit turbo and it wasnt bad but still a little noisy in the cab and at higher rpms got a little raspy. i now have a magnaflow XL and im liking it more then the other two. hardly any cab drone and it seems to flow pretty good with no raspyness in the higher rpms. has a nice mellow idle but not overly aggressive but you can tell its not a stock system.

Where the muffler is placed is a factor in the cab drone as much as the type of muffler, best way to eliminate the drone is have it as absolutely far back as possible.

I second Trike's idea. On my 94 with no cat and stock exhaust manifold, I first put on a Thrush welded from Advance that I was told was essentially a Flowmaster. WAY too drony and loud...it sounded like a crotch rocket. Went to a thrush Turbo and it sounds very nice. Little rumble at idle, makes some bark while going thru the RPM's, then is quiet in OD at 70mph.

i did my new header cherry bomb then 6 ft of flexpipe cheap and easy
