How's this new Yukon Zip Locker?
It must be really new? I can't find nothing about it on Yotatech. Looks tough and I like that it's Yukon Brand and cheaper than an ARB (why pay more for the name?)

Its not that new, at least 4 months old. Check out Pirate4x4. Its not that much cheaper than ARB IIRC which is why I wasn't too interested. If they made something for the IFS front that was around $500 USD I'd be very interested.

Hardly... It's still an "AIR" locker which ARB is notorious for unreliability. I've heard better things about E-lockers or better yet Ox lockers but thats something us Toyota boys dont get the luxury of having.
this new Yukon Air locker sounds/reads/seems as reliable as the ARB, an identical unit almost.
I'm still weighing my options, ofcourse f/r selectables (Electronic flavor) would be ideal... I'm thinking this might be a nice upgrade for the front axle. I would like an onboard compressor.

~$660 ish for the Yukon Zip Locker
*neither includes a compressor.
So the Yukon is cheaper. The question is, which is more reliable?

Brat Zip locker
I have a 93 PU 22re dlx with 4.88 gears brand new Zip locker($800ish) built by marlin in the rear and a used Craigslist ARB up front, got the Arb/4.88 diff ready to drop in for $250 out on North cascade Hwy... So the Arb works every time(snow,Mud,hot,cold,upside down,rightside up), no accsepions, excusses or B.S. it just WORKS! The brand new youkon Zip is a very different story it finds any and i mean any reson not to engadge(always when you need it the most) once engaged it works well, best to leave it on once its engaged. after i found the problem(first time out) i took it to randys(twice) and they gave it back and told me it worked fine. Im not an Arb rep and have youkon gears that are great. in my opinion just get the arb straght away and save yourself the

Never had any issue with any ARB locker I have ever owned. I have never had any of them not engage. I have owned several other but never a Yukon so I can't comment on them.

I know your after selectable's but I can't even think of one downside to a detroit up front. I love mine. Awsome mannerisms in all terrians.

IMO elocker is the best because even if the electronics fail. T can still be turned on and off by hand. Arb looses air for any reason, failed air line, relays, and silionold will be come unlocked. The difference is, I wouldn't run any larger than 33s with elockers. Anyone that says elockers suck and that they break is because they are running to big of a tire. Arb will be stronger for 34 and up size tires. Btw I live my elocker lol

They don't make 4cyl 8" elockers right? But I've heard of modding the 8" high pinion elocker so it fits.. Correct? How much would it cost to have someone mod it for me? And would that be the way to go? I don't have any spare time right now.

Why you no see point to having selectable in front? Did that as asian as I could.
Hope your not leaning towards spooled in front. Detroit up front is my vote becuase it hands down steers better then locked and has the same traction.

I'd never spool. My plans were to get a selectable rear, and a Detroit front later on. I dont see why I should get a front selectable if I'm using 4 wheel drive when offload, which I when I'll be locked anyway. ... Or will it lock in 2wd somehow? Don't see how just making sure it doesn't.
I was going to get an auto locker in the rear, but after reading that I shouldn't haul heavy loads with an auto locker I decided that I can't go down that path. So.. Selectable rear, auto front.
