How do I get to this thing? I cant see a way to it from under the hood or from inside the pickup. The old antenna was catching on a rose bush and I guess loosened the mounting. I got a new stubby antenna works good and just need to tighten the base against the fender. Thanks, Jim

I discovered this when I had to replace the PO's stubby antenna that was torn off by some jackass. I also found out that the reason my passenger side floor boards always filled with rainwater during storms was that the PO hadn't used any kind of grommet for the radio antenna when he installed the stubby....grrrrrrrr.

hmmm sounds like my problem too, but its the stock mount, I guess when they redid mine, the idiots didn't tighten it enough and it got lost, it was flopping around on mine for about a month till i got tired of smacking my face on the antenna. My lazy ass fixed it by super gluing it to the fender lmao.

is it leaning all the way over, like off to the side?

if so, then you probably need a new antenna assembly...

you'll see the plastic tube-like thing in there when you pull the inner fender away; those are prone to breaking over the years, causing a loss of support, thus the antenna leans over

mine was the same way when I first picked up my 91

Go to shucks and pick up a rubber antenna. They are like a foot tall, and have a ball mount so you can bend them over when you go wheelin. Oh, and they are only like 20 bucks.

You can install it in like an hour if you pull off the fender.

I don't see anything under the fender to tighten. Lost a mudflap clip in the process. Will try to figure out a clever way of tightening the castle nut on top. Would be interested in replacing the antenna with the one mentioned above.

You don't say what truck-year you have. On First-gen, just use long-nose pliers to tighten the castellated nut.
I have fiberglas cab on first-gen Morefunner, and rod antenna gets in the way of loading my kayak on roof so I deleted the rod antenna

Below is how I fix my broken antennas. I cut the head off of a bolt and then thread the two broken pieces back together with the broken bolt. The castle nut holds the top of the antenna.

Not the best picture, but in the top picture you can see the bolt in the top half of the antenna.

I just found a bolt that threaded into the two broken pieces and cut the head off twisted them together. I have done this before and it works great.
