How to Make Old Carpet Look New

I recently purchased a 88 Xtracab that had no carpet or anything in it just floorboard. Bought used carpet from an 85 that was being sold on the forum. Used a pressure washer and purple power to clean the carpet, vacuumed and then painted it with duplicolor charcoal grey vinyl and fabric paint. I did this on a Cherokee a few years back and the paint hasn't faded or worn so it does last. Just thought I would post this for anyone wondering about renewing old carpet. The first pic is how I got it and the other two are the end product.

Looks like it turned out great. Taking a carpet to the carwash and giving a good cleaning helps with the smell and freshness inside a truck. Lots of gunk come out when washing it that way. One thing I like on used carpet it is already cut. I have installed new carpet and it is preformed but still does not have all the cut out and can be a pain to install. Great job.

85?! I hate you! LOL!

Good job! Mine wasn't too dirty when I got it so I just threw it in front-loading washer

Looks great, I've use a pressure washer and Purple Power, and other degreasers to clean up old dirty carpet.

I did new carpet in my 88 Runner recently... total PITA. Yeah it's preformed but it also has 2-3" of extra material all the way around and no cutouts. Like a lot of (all) jobs it took about 4x longer than expected. Turned out great but I doubt I'd ever do it again.

I have tried three different companies and so far none of them have one that just drops in. Installing carpet is a real pain in the rear.
