How to check waterpump?

94 toyota pickup 4x4 22re

It's been over 100 degrees here the entire week, my radiator popped a couple pin-hole leaks so I just installed a new radiator..It seems like my truck used to run cooler, prior to about 4 weeks ago..the radiator install didn't make a difference. The temp needle sits just a click above the middle mark now, used to sit about a click below the middle mark.

I also notice that my fan is always spinning, not sure if that has something to do with it? I replaced the t-stat (autozone) about 12 months ago..wondering what I should check next...thanks!

check your water temp. If it's not above 215 there is nothing to worry about. The fan should spin 'always'.
If you're counting on the dash gauge for indication, when it get's up to the H that's when you start worrying.

T-stat? Autozoom sells crappy parts (imho). Try an OEM thermostat.

You said that the air temp has been 100 or so degrees. it makes sense that the engine will run a tad hotter in those conditions, especially if you have the a/c on. Sounds like everything is normal to me.

Ran the truck again this morning while the air was cooler and you're right, the temp dropped back down, runs good now..

My idle has been running high over the last few weeks and I noticed that dash pot doesn't let the throttle sit all the way back down..I took the dash pot off, and the truck idles perfect..I guess I'll pick up a new dash pot too...Thanks for the replies!

I thought the dash pot was holding up the throttle from returning fully to the idle position, but after cleaning out the throttle body, it returns to idle just fine now.
