Help!! Power loss.major.

I recently swapped an engine into my 1994 pickup. My old 22re spun a rod bearing. Ive put about 4 tanks of gas through the new 22re and all was good. 2 days ago it started acting up. It was low on gas. I filled up and threw in some sea foam. The truck cleared up for a short spell but it didnt last long. All cylinders have spark and fuel but while driving the truck it feels like the engine is being choked. 3rd gear 45mph is top speed. 4th gear is out of the question. The engine backfired and ruined my new muffler.I changed the fuel filter and nothing changed. The air filter is new also. The injectors are flamethrowers with 2000 miles on them. The check engine light is not on and no codes come up on the scanner.I have noticed that a previous owner messed with the sensor on the airbox. It looks like it was taken apart and siliconed back together. Someone tell me whats wrong please and thank you!!

I have seen a large vacuum leak cause similar situations. Can you swap in another AFM? I had bad AFMs and not get any codes from them. There are some resistance checks that you can run on the AFM. Not all problems will show with a code. Running low on fuel will kill a fuel pump. Gas is a coolant to the fuel pump. I have a set of Flamethrower injectors with 60k miles on them and they are great, I would not suspect them. I have seen the 3.0 guys ahve problems with them but not on the 22re so I would not suspect yours of having issues unless clogged. You could pull the injectors and see if there is some gunk in the screens where the fuel goes into them but I would check everything else before pulling the injectors.

Personally I dont run Sea Foam thru the tank, if your tank is really dirty inside, it breaks up to much gunk and it will clog the fuel filter. The filter doesnt always catch everything and have seen it clog injectors. Sea Foam is some great stuff for it other uses, just not the tank in my opinion.

Here is a recent thread on the tank https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...n-miss-287900/ By adding cleaner into your tank, your asking your little fuel filter to catch alot of gunk. I seen inside some tanks that look bad insid but clean up real nice. It looks like rust build up but I think it is a chemical build up as there is no pitting in the tank when cleaned. Also know of a truck on here where a cleaner was added and it clogged all injectors.

I wish I had a MAF sensor to swap but I don't and boy they are pricey. I'm wondering if the pump strainer is plugged? How do I do the resistance checks?

So yesterday I installed new cap,rotor,plugs and wires. It didnt seem to help. I drove it and did notice one thing. It will clear up if you just barely give it throttle. If I step on it, its almost like it won't take fuel or its running out of fuel. It reminds me off a lawnmower thats sat all winter and runs like crap on the 1st startup in the spring.

That will do it, but now you have to do some work on the fuel syste,m to get that dirt out before it bites you again.
