I bought a three gauge sunpro kit and I'm trying to wire it up. After some research on the web i found out where i had to hook up my water temp bung. I took out the water temp sensor that is between the intake manifold and the firewall on top of the block and tried putting in the bung but it won't fit. So i put on the adapter that came with the gauge kit and still to big. Is there another spot i can tap in on the block to plug in my water temp? Went to a hardware store and two auto parts store and they didn't have anything. How did everyone hook theirs up?




On the left is the sensor that i pulled out from the block on the right is the adapter im trying to put in its place.





Here is where im trying to tap into.

Ok i figured out i need an adapter that goes from a male metric to a female SAE.
Male (M12X1.5) ---> Female (5/8 x 1/8)

I did the same basic gauges and had the same problem. Went on sunpros web site and found their adapter kit. Ordered it from Autozone and they had it in 3 days. Cost about $9.00, twice the sunpro cost but no shipping. So really about the same.

The original Temp gauge on my truck works, but I tapped into the upper radiator hose and installed a autometer temp gauge as well just in case. I don't have a better pic but its where the blue wire is connected to the sensor.

No thats not it. Part # u need is CP7574

But that kit contains:
M14 X 1.5 to 5/8" x 1/8" NPT
M16 X 1.5 to 5/8" x 1/8" NPT

and the temp sensor i pulled out of my block is a M12 x 1.5??

Could you explain more on how you did this? what plugs did you use? I may have to end up doing it this way.

it's little pricey and you can pretty much make your own. Matter of fact we just made one for a friends jeep in 10 mins. Everything that you need comes with the autometer kit. The installation is simple. Drain a little coolant, cut the hose and install the adapter, put the clamps, install the sensor and thats it. this way you dont need to spend hours searching for the right adapter that will fit the engine block. I know i spend lots of time trying to figure out what size would fit but with no luck. Hope this helps

Sweet seems a lot easier than what I'm trying to do. If these adapters i ordered didn't work then i will go this route. Thanks again.

Thats what I thought on the 12 also, but emailed sunpro and they sayed to use the kit I told u to use. It worked

Ah crap well i guess i'll just wait and see what happens.

Another note on the 12mm. Those are metric thread not metric pipe thread, thats the diffrence
