Hello everyone,

I had my engine rebuilt by a crappy shop in Nevada and now I'm trying to clean up their mess. 1993 4runner 3vze. sounds good, runs very well (I also had the tranny rebuilt two weeks ago).

So here's the problem: as soon as it warms up, it starts to sputter. It drives fine with no sputtering, but as soon as I stop completely the sputtering starts back up. The only code it's throwing is 52, which I know is the KS. I'm not sure if that would cause the sputtering. Any advice is appreciated.

If its throwing a code 52 its prob going into limp mode. you're prob going to have to change the knock sensor pigtail. this would mean removing the intake plenum and the intake manifold to gain access to it.

tuglife is right; it may not be the direct cause of your sputtering, but you'll never be able to find the problem as long as it's throwing the code. (The "limp mode" he describes is the ECU dramatically retarding the timing to save the engine. Other than keeping the engine from blowing a hole in a piston, retarded timing is just, well, retarded.)
