Help!

So this spring I rolled my uncle's 95 toyota tacoma. The motor had been rebuilt and it has most of the parts still usable. He found a 1990 toyota pickup, what I would like to know is what parts will fit on the 90? We were planning on swapping the motor and suspension. The 95 is the 2.7 22re I believe. So my question, how different are these trucks? Because it's a tacoma will the parts fit? Any help would be great!

Motor yes, with a good bit of work, suspension no. There are almost no similarities between the two.

ouch, sounds like you bought a truck this spring you weren't planning on, eh?

are you sure it's a 22re in the 1995? There are a few 1995 3rd gen pickups that are non-Tacomas - is it one of these, or is it actually a Tacoma? Tacoma would have come with the 2.7L 2rz or 3rz engine, not the 2.4L 22re engine of the previous years.

if the motor is actually a 22re, it can be swapped in no problemo into the 1990 assuming it's also a 22re truck. If it's a 2.7L, then you will follow pretty much all the steps of retrofitting an engine swap to the new truck - BUT I'm fairly certain you cannot swap a 2rz/3rz into a rig that still has IFS, unless you have major fabrication skills to make it happen, or a crazy tall body lift.

other parts that will direct-fit between a tacoma and pickup: wheels/tires. pretty much all I can think of. everything else will require some sort of modifications, but common Tacoma parts you might see on an older rig are: seats, rear axle, and for whatever reason the bed (not sure why people do it - maybe an east coast thing due to rust on all older donors?)
