Heater/vent/ temp. slides/linkage stuck. Idea's?

Has anyone messed with the temp adjustment slide, and the circulate slide? Mine are jammed, and feel like they will break if I force them. Is that a unit I would replace, or do I need to troubleshoot each linkagelinkage or cable? If it is a whole assembly I would replace, could you tell me what it's called? Or the best place to find one? Thank you!

Those are separate cables in the dash. Probably just old/rusted or jammed. Not much you can do to check them without tearing into the dash.

the temp adj valve is under the hood. it's on one of the heater hoses at the firewall. maybe you can disconnect it there to see if the cable is stuck or the valve. for the others you'll have to go under the dash.

Mine did the exact same thing about a year ago. For a while I could not adjust the temperature and the fan was stuck on high. Several weeks later of trying the levers (I was afraid of forcing them) they suddenly started to slide (albeit they were tight and kept intermittently freezing up). Turns out the plastic housing for the fan switches had overheated and melted. A new OEM housing only cost about $66.00- the bigger issue was pulling the dash to replace the unit.

Mine did the exact same thing, as the PO had it sitting for four years before I got to it. I was in the dash already, so I justput a little silicone grease on the mechanisms and slowly worked the mechanism free. Works great since!
