heater fan..

g'day out there.
anyone able to tell me why my fan unit in the heater box isn't working?
when the fan is switched on/off you can hear the relay click tho the fan doesn't engage.
doesn't seem to be seized coz spins freely by hand.
thanks.

Check to see if you indeed have voltage to the fan plug.

Good time to get a multimeter

This tells you the switch side of the circuit is working

Using a 12 VDC power source see if the fan works

If the fan does not spin the brushes might be shot or time for a new fan motor.

Some of these motors had brushes some don`t I have no idea which you might have.

heater fan..

haha great emoticon mate.

there's to bundled cable groups to the fan...
one seems to go direct into the fan motor base n the other has a plug fitting.

as far as fuse cages go, I've one in the kick panel at my right foot and another over the rhs front wheel arch...can't find any fuses denoting heater/fan.
is there another elsewhere?

good idea tho about running power direct to fan!!
will remove tonight n see if works.

thanks...be lots of coffee!!

Being yours was not imported to the USA things can be a little different than what we are used to here.

It would be a big help if you can take pictures

being you have right hand drive is your heater box on the left ??

What you could be hearing is a breaker tripping not a relay closing

haha. nah, jz wondered if the electrical side of a/c ran with the heater fan.

the fan wz working a week ago but only on the 2nd speed setting.

wznt able to take any pictures during the night.
been all night fitting an upgraded 120watt alternator n some other bits n peices.

hard to find a wiring diagram for an RN 130R in Australia.
still can't find one so she's not connected at present.
will take some pics when I go back out to shed fresh after a few hours shut eye mate.

am hopeing the switch isn't cactus, it's gunna be difficult to remove...even with dash stripped nearly completely.
Need smaller hands : )

Had this happen on my 4Runner a few years ago. At 275K miles, the fan motor was just plain toast. I sourced one from the junkyard, and upon taking the old motor apart, the brushes were non-existent. I imagine yours is pretty similar, and if so, it should just be three small bolts, and an electrical connector

When ordering your resistor, pay attention if you have a 3 pronged or 4 pronged resistor. It is an easy fix but I didnt know there was 2 styles of resistors depending on what year it is and spent way to much time trouble shooting one of my trucks.

I had a two inch body lift on my truck and didnt really notice any changes. I removed mine just because I dont like to jump up into a truck. I like lifted turcks and think they look great, just not on mine when they are daily drivers. I like the looks of mine with the lift on it better but when it comes to practical use, it had to go. Other then that no issues.
