headlight issue! please help!
Ok, so i have a 87 4runner. the low beams work mint, but the highs dont seem to work well at all. ive read the 4crawler article. so what happening is when i turn on the high beams, either buy swicthing it on or pulling it back, the lights go really dim. The dash indicator for "not low beams" comes on. Im stumped. im not good with electronics, i think i have an open circut, now i just need to find it. any ideas?
Thanks,
Caleb

how old are them bulbs? swap in a couple new bulbs to isolate that. if the problem is still there you have a short between the bulbs and the switch, or a bad dimmer switch itself.
everything else in the circuit is shared with the low beams, so if the issue was on that side, the lows would be bad too.
UNLESS, is it possible you're alt isn't putting out enough to cover the extra draw?
put on your lows, then turn on every other electric thing you got, and see if the lows dim too.
good luck!

The lights had a bad ground. Just wired them together. so technically, I have 2 driver side headlights. Gonna get the up graded wiring harness and upgrade the lights soon.
